Most families dream of taking a vacation. Any vacation at all. But some of us dream big when we think of family travel. A quick jaunt to Wisconsin is fine. But give me Italy. Or Australia. Or one of my dream trips: a cruise to the Galapagos Islands or a safari to see the Great Migration in Africa.
My pal, Eileen Ogintz, author of the syndicated Taking the Kids column, did a poll in conjunction with Travelocity that asked families where in the world they would most like to visit. The results:
27 percent want to visit Europe
25 percent want to see Hawaii
9 percent want to go to the Mediterranean
9 percent want to join Mickey in Orlando, Florida
6 percent want to head halfway around the world to Australia
5 percent want to see Africa
3 percent want to go to Costa Rica
3 percent covet a trip to The Galapagos Islands
11 percentwant to go somewhere else
My already-long travel bucket list seems to grow every year. I am fortunate enough to have visited many of the places on this list, but certainly not all.
Where would you most like to go? And what are you doing to make that trip a reality?
Would you like to win a dream vacation? Perhaps I can help.
TravelingMom.com, the other site where I write about travel, has partnered with Taking the Kids and Family Travel Forum to give away a $20,000 Galapagos Cruise for a family of four, courtesy of Lindblad Expeditions. There are lots of ways to enter. All the details are here. Good luck!
