Young woman in cherry blossom garden
“Spring” and “style” are two words many moms don’t think much about, especially when it comes to ourselves. After 30 minutes of trying to wrestle my toddler into a clean pair of socks, style seems frivolous. I remember when picking outfits from my closet was half the fun of going out! And it’s about time moms had a little fun in our closets again. So let’s take a moment, sip a chai latte and take a look at a few pieces worth springing for.
Boho-inspired top from Trends Oak Park
Boho-inspired
With concert season officially here, Bohemian-inspired fashion is back for spring. Flowing sheer tops, like the one I bought from Trends in Oak Park, is both comfortable and stylish. A win-win in my book of ‘Hell Yeahs’. I wore this boho top with my favorite pair of stone colored Gap Oak Park skinny jeans and a textured nude sandal.
Florals
You can thank concert festivals like Coachella and Lollapalooza for an eternal appreciation of the ‘70s. Flower power is here to stay, but you don’t want to look like you’re wearing your granny’s curtains walking into a play date, am I right?
I fell hard for a silk floral dress with leather bib neck detail from Manouche in Forest Park. The recently-opened Two Story Farmhouse in Oak Park also has a faux wrap midi dress that is another fun floral look. These picks have Mother’s Day brunch written all over them–because clearly, you are an excellent multitasker.
Off-the-shoulder
Another hot trend for spring are off-the-shoulder tops. While prints are all over my favorite blogs, I’m sold on solids. This one from Sanem’s in Oak Park is chic and effortless. Pair it with jean shorts and a bright sandal (like these cobalt blue ones) and you have a look that can transition from day to night.
