Visit the Halloween haunts at Navy Pier

Get ready for some frightfully good fun at Navy Pier’s Halloween Haunts. As part of their annual fall celebration, Navy Pier will host costume contests every weekend from Sept. 27-Oct. 25. Prizes for contest winners include gas cards, American Airlines tickets, Navy Pier shopping vouchers, Pier Park passes and Nintendo Wiis.

If your entire family loves dressing up, Navy Pier is hosting a Family Costume Contest on Oct. 31. The grand prizes include a $5,000 gas gift card and American Airline tickets. Even pets can get in the act. Navy Pier’s mascot, Patch the Pirate Dog, is hosting some events just for you and your pooch. Events include Patch’s 2nd Annual Pet Costume Parade as well as a Pet Adoption Showcase.

Since you’re in the Halloween spirit, you’re sure to find spooky surprises throughout the pier. Perhaps a game of ghoulish mini-golf? Or maybe a spin on the haunted carousel? Live entertainment, candy-bag giveaways and themed activities are intended for all ages, so there’s nothing to fear.

As part of this month-long celebration, the pier will light up the sky with firework shows at 9 p.m. Saturdays from Sept. 12-Nov. 2.

Navy Pier’s Web site (navypier.com) offers a variety of coupons for families, as well as dates and times for specific events, so check it out before you go.
