The ultimate waterpark

Noah's Ark

There are water parks, and then there’s Noah’s Ark Water Park.

Noah’s Ark Water Park at Wisconsin Dells claims to be America’s largest water park. It’s certainly the largest, and best, water park my family has ever visited. It boasts 41 slides, two wave pools, two endless rivers and four play areas for little ones on 70 acres in the center of the Dells.

This summer, the park will debut its new"4D Dive-In Theater.” The $2 million theater will show"SpongeBob SquarePants 4D Movie” on a 40-foot screen while pelting viewers with water squirts, overhead water drops and water cannons.

There’s plenty to keep older kids engaged, including the scary enclosed water slides such as Dark Voyage as well as The Plunge, a speedy, head-first racing slide. But there’s also plenty for little ones—including gentler slides and rides—and the park provides life jackets free with a $20 refundable deposit.

Pick a hot day—you’ll be wet all day and it’s no fun standing in a ride line dripping wet while a cool Wisconsin breeze raises goose bumps. Shade is a rare commodity at Noah’s Ark. If you happen to choose a chilly day, the park rents wet suits for $3 plus a $50 deposit.

There are plenty of food vendors at the park, offering typical water park fare. If you’re traveling on a budget, or want to eat healthy, bring your own picnic lunch and eat at one of the picnic tables on the periphery of the park.

The outdoor water park is open daily from May 26 through Sept. 3. Check the Web site for coupons and deals before heading north.
