All twisted up

Summer fun

For an afternoon of summer fun with a doughy twist, consider hosting your own backyard Kim& Scott’s Gourmet Pretzel Twist‘N’ Top party.

“It’s something fun that you can do at home, the cost is very manageable and (I love) the pride the kids have when they see their pretzel finished,” says Kim Holstein, CEO, resident and CIO (Chief Inspirational Officer) at Kim& Scott’s.

Pretzels, invented in 610 A.D. by an Italian monk as a gift to children after prayer, have been part of Holstein’s life the past 14 years. The mom of three, ages 4, 6 and 9, still personally does some Twist‘N’ Top parties because she says she loves making pretzels and seeing the joy and fun kids get from making their pretzels.

“It’s really magical. There’s something about pretzels that kids just love,” she says.

Cost for a party is $7.99 per child (minimum 10 kids) and a $50 Professor of Pretzels fee (optional, but the professor educates kids on the history of the pretzel, demonstrates the art of twisting and answers all kids’ pretzel questions). A month’s notice is needed. Each child receives pretzel dough, toppings and paint, an official twisting hat and an activity bag with activity book and crayons.
