Sun, wind, rain. Our skin is exposed to quite a bit during the spring and summer months, especially when we’re traveling. Pack these four items in your bag for your next trip to keep your skin and hair looking and feeling healthy.
1 Wipe on some SUN
Thanks to the porcelain-skinned beauties of Downton Abbey, I have much more respect for my own pale complexion and fair limbs. That is, until I land in Florida and put on a bathing suit. L’Oreal Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning Towelettes, medium natural tan, are streak-free and less smelly than liquid tanners, and the golden color develops gradually so you don’t end up looking like a sweet potato overnight.
$12.99, in most drugstores
2 Color correction
This is one of my absolute favorite beauty products ever. It’s like photoshop in a bottle. Olay’s super light CC Cream Total Effects Tone Correcting Moisturizer with SPF 15 is all the foundation you need to look great on your busy days traveling with kids. And because you only need to use a small amount for big coverage, the bottle will last longer than you think.
$17, in most drugstores.
3 Pencil in a good night’s sleep
Another one of my favorite beauty tricks while traveling is Benefit’s “Eye Bright.” I use it anytime I’m looking tired and worn. Just a dab at the inside and outside corners of your lids instantly brightens your eyes and makes you appear rested. They don’t call it “a nap in a stick” for nothin’.

4 Make your colorist proud
If you’re like me and spend a small fortune for that “natural” hair color, then this one’s just for you. Aveda’s Sun Care Protective Hair Veil is a lightweight, water-resistant, UV defense that protects your hair from sun damage up to 16 hours. It also minimizes color fade and dryness. A simple spritz-on way to protect your mane investment.
