It’s that time of year again….BLUEBERRIES!!!

No mid-July is complete without alate afternoon trek over to The Blueberry Patch, where we searched high and lowfor the biggest, sweetest blueberries. Of course, half of the blueberries we picked seemed to end up in our bellies – but who can resist? – just think of all the antioxidants!

Located about 2.5 hours from Chicago, the Blueberry Patch is worth a day trip.Weheaded out in the latea.m., just after the baby’s nap, stopping firstfor arelaxing, gourmetlunch atSOE Cafe (onSawyer Rd., just down the street from thefarm) – try the homemade gardenburger! For dessert:as many blueberries as we could fit in our bellies. Even the baby was reaching outinto the bushes from her backpack carrier for more! We managed to pick three pounds of blueberries! (and ate many of them on the car ride home!)
