Something we Love | Customizable iPhone case

Digging out those wallet-sized photos of your kids is so old school. Now you can show off the kids by simply whipping out your iPhone.

Chicago dad John Hong and Scott Wilson, co-founders of Uncommon, have harnessed a new technology that allows parents to customize their iPhone or iPod Touch case with a photo of their kids or kids’ artwork-or anything else for that matter.

It’s so cool, it makes us want to get an iPhone just for the Uncommon case.

Jessa Brinkmeyer, communications manager at Uncommon, says the printing technology literally embeds the image into the plastic case, much like a tattoo. That means no chipping, peeling or fading, she says.

It’s simple to upload an image, even for the technically challenged, and quick to deliver (most receive the case in three days).

The cases are $39.95. Customize yours with a high-resolution photo at getuncommon.com. Pre-designed cases are available in Apple stores nationwide.

Sign up for our Weekend Scoop for a chance to win a custom case (Hint: Set a reminder for Aug. 12).
