Owner Sarah Phillips and her staff have a created an environment that blends the latest trends with laid-back comfort. Young girls can enjoy a “Candy Cut” with shampoo, cut and blow dry while mom is on the other end of the salon luxuriating in a Rockin Spa Pedicure. Rock Candy offers hair services for children (boys and girls) as well as child and adult nail services.
Recently the spa treated my niece and me to their “Mommy& Me Mani/Pedi.” We spent an afternoon being buffed, massaged and polished like Dorothy in the Emerald City. The treatment was so nice my niece later asked me if she could go back and just ask for the manicure without the polish.
While I gravitated toward the pinks and nudes, my niece headed straight for the bright blues and yellows that are so on trend. Rock Candy also offers nail art and “rockin toe rings” with some packages and at its super-glamorous kids birthday parties. Even boys can get in the act with a “Mani Guy” that includes a green slime nail soak.
As a working mother, Phillips is committed to supporting other mom-based businesses. She uses locally sourced and produced children’s products and sells custom-made hair bows and decorations made by Chicago-area parents.
