Something for your blue team bucket list! They are putting on the red light in Wrigleyville at Heating& Cooling, a new spot where canned beers and cocktails rule. Jam with up-and-coming rockers and slam a slab of calamari pizza in one of the newest cute Cubs neighborhood spots that’s friendly to families. Meet the brand new ladies in red! It’s a red letter day at Brookfield Zoo when two red pandas move into the Hamill Family Wild Encounters on July 1. Found in India, Nepal and Myanmar, red pandas are vulnerable in the wild because they are hunted for their fur. Look closely at the panda’s habitat and you’ll see a specially designed Bonsai tree replica. Within the tree there are crevices for feeders, which are timed to release food at random times throughout the day to encourage natural foraging behaviors.
Into the blue
Sail the ocean, er Lake Michigan, blue this month on a Mystic Blue Cruise. Bob down the Chicago shoreline from North Avenue Beach to Burnham Harbor for cool views of Willis Tower, the John Hancock and Shedd Aquarium. Time your ride with the twice-weekly Navy Pier-synchronized fireworks show Wednesdays and Saturdays for an added pop of red, white and blue fun!
