The best pumpkin flavored treats in (and around) Naperville

October means a proliferation of pumpkins, and not just the kind that you carve. There are a lot of food items featuring pumpkin and you can find some delicious pumpkin flavored treats in downtown Naperville.

Pumpkin Cream Scones or Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffins

DeEtta’s Bakery

428 West Fifth Avenue, Naperville

This pumpkin scone was a tasty treat, and would be a fun addition to a tea party with your little one. The muffins are good, too, and my daughter was especially taken with the adorable pumpkin cookies. DeEtta’s is just south of Naperville North High School, so not directly in downtown Naperville, but it’s just a few minutes away, and the pumpkin treats are definitely worth the trip. On Fridays and Saturdays, you can also get delicious pumpkin doughnuts.

Pumpkin Pancakes

Egg Harbor Café

175 West Jackson Avenue, Naperville

The Naperville outpost of Egg Harbor recently expanded and with adding a new room, the whole space feels not only bigger, but also fresh and new. If you want to have an autumnal party in your mouth, try the pumpkin pancakes with sugared pecans and topped with whipped cream and cinnamon butter.

Pumpkin Pie Frozen Yogurt

Red Mango

111 West Jackson Avenue, Naperville (with several other locations throughout the Western suburbs of Chicago)

If you love frozen desserts and/or want a gluten-free, low-fat option, the creamy pumpkin pie frozen yogurt at Red Mango is a good bet. It packs a powerful pumpkin punch but is just 35 calories per ounce. Thankfully, the weather isn’t frigid yet and the warm days in the forecast would be a perfect time to check out this pumpkin treat.

Pumpkin Stuffed French Toast

Eggs, Inc.

220 South Washington Street, Naperville (there’s a second location in Bolingbrook)

I have four words for you: Pumpkin Mascarpone Cream Cheese. And yes, it’s as good as it sounds. All the members of family were fans of it, and we’re not big cream cheese people at all. Now imagine that stuffed in French Toast. Or, if you’re more a pancake person, Eggs, Inc. also offers pumpkin pancakes that come topped with pumpkin mascarpone cream cheese. (Mine actually came with it on the side so I could use as I wished, which was perfect.)
