Penguin Paintings: the gift for the kid who has everything

What to get the kid who has everything, including an insatiable love of animals? The penguins at Shedd Aquarium might have the answer.

In their own version of fingerpaiting, the penguins have turned their signature waddle into the goofiest, most original present we’ve seen this season. These one-of-a-kind paintings showcase the pitter-patter of the Magellanic and Rockhopperwebbed feet, which aquarium staff dip in red and green paint and set them loose on white canvases.

Proceeds from the paintings benefit the aquarium’s education and conservation programs.

Like all masterpieces, supplies are limited to 30 paintings. Beginning Dec. 22, the pieces will available in the aquarium’s gift shop. Each 16 x 20 painting is framed and includes a biography of the penguin artist.
