When Prince first sang Purple Rain, it was hard for many to understand why he chose that particular color in the first place. Pantone must have felt the same pull to the shade when they officially named Ultra Violet their 2018 Color of the Year.
Pantone’s website introduces the color as “a dramatically provocative and thoughtful purple shade, PANTONE 18-3838 Ultra Violet communicates originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking that points us toward the future.”
