The largest and most lavish version of the holiday ballet in Lake County! Clara’s dream has been brought to life in a beautiful production by Dancenter North that features over 100 performers, including internationally renowned guests artists.  For 28 years, “The Magic of the Nutcracker” has been Lake County’s favorite version of the classic holiday ballet.
DanceWest Ballet performs The Nutcracker annually at Pfeiffer Hall on the campus of North Central College in Naperville. This DanceWest Ballet production has become a holiday tradition in Du Page County since 1993.
The Nutcracker and Pre-Ballet Holiday Show
Hyde Park School of Dance presents its annual performances featuring more than 150 dancers. The 90-minute narrated production follows Clara, Fritz and the mysterious Uncle Drosselmeyer from the family holiday party and the midnight battle with the Mouse Queen and her troops through the Land of Snow to the Kingdom of Sweets. This yearÂ’s performances contain a new element: a hip hop dance battle to showcase the range of dance genres HPSD offers, as well as send a message of peace. Prior to each performance, the Pre-Ballet Holiday Show showcases 70 of HPSDÂ’s youngest ballet students in performance. The Hyde Park School of Dance Holiday Bazaar offers an opportunity to meet characters from The Nutcracker, finish holiday shopping from the wares of local vendors and indulge in a hot chocolate bar and other treats. The Holiday Bazaar takes place noon-6 p.m. Dec. 10 and noon-3 p.m. Dec. 11.
Tchaikovsky’s world renowned music is brought to life through the talent and grace of Svalander’s ballet company. Performances are 2 and 7 p.m. Dec. 13 and 20; noon and 6 p.m. Dec. 14; 2 p.m. Dec. 21. Also, take in the wonder of the Woodstock Square with a walk or horse-drawn carriage ride with the glow of thousands of holiday lights illuminations the buildings and trees.
North Shore School of Dance: The Nutcracker
The story is of Clara and her Nutcracker prince as they fight the Mice King and journey through the snow to the Land of Sweets, told by ballet dancers. The North Shore School of Dance will present its production at Lake Forest Academy, 1500 West Kennedy Road, Lake Forest (Dec. 4-5).

Featuring lavish sets, festive costumes, and Tchaikovsky’s score this is one holiday production you do not want to miss.
Guest dancers from nationally renowned dance companies join the Rockford orchestra and the local talent of the Rockford Dance Company to present this holiday tradition. Performances are 7 p.m. Dec. 6 and 3 p.m. Dec. 7.
A company of professional dancers lead a large cast in TchaikovskyÂ’s magical ballet, following the dreamlike adventures of a young girl who, with the help of an enchanting toymaker, encounters leaping Russians, waltzing flowers, twirling snowflake maidens and more.

The Nutcracker opens Nov. 8 and runs through Dec. 28.Performances are most Tuesdays through Saturdays at 10 a.m., withcertain performances at 12:30 p.m.
This Nutcracker performance pairs the classical (Tchaikovsky) and jazz (Duke Ellington/Billy Strayhorn) versions of the holiday favorite. Featured ensembles include Forum Jazz Dance Theatre, Moscow BalletÂ’s childrenÂ’s cast, The Kate Jablonski Statement, Tapman Productions, Visceral Dance Chicago, Wheatland Dance Theater, and other companies and choreographers participating in Dance Chicago 2016.
