Explore your artistic side this weekend at the Family Days: Find Your Voice event at the Museum of Contemporary Art. The event’s activities focus on art that creates social change, says Erin Baldwin, media relations manager at the museum. Visitors can create peace panels and political posters, while kids can design their own works of art on the education center’s wall.
Family Days events are the second Saturday of every month. Find Your Voice runs 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday and admission is free for families with kids 12 and under. Are you afraid of the creatures looming in the dark? Go face to face with critters of the night at the In the Dark Weekend at the Notebaert Nature Museum. Introduce your family to nocturnal animals including a flying squirrel, owl and sugar glider on Saturday and Sunday. The weekend event is a special program under the“In the Dark” exhibit running through Jan. 11.
Both days kick off at 11 a.m. with a“Bat Encounter,” where you’ll meet the largest bat in the world—a Malayan flying fox—and its friend, Rob Mies, a leading bat expert. Go on a flashlight quest and discover how nocturnal animals function at night. Take a walk around the North Pond Sunday during the Star Gazing Evening Hike for an extra fee, registration is required.
