Nourishment Beyond Food

A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of meeting Siv Sjöholm, a woman committed to helping individuals and families create a conscious and positive relationship with food.

Instead of focusing her energy on diets and weight loss, she helps people understand their nutritional needs so they can release their full potential and find greater happiness. Her mission definitely peaked my interest!

In the 2 hours that I spent with her I learned so much about food and wellness, and I appreciated her deep understanding that it’s not just about the body, it’s about the mind and spirit as well.

In the following article Siv shares her unique and insightful viewpoint……

Nourishment Beyond Food

What we eat nourishes us and is essential. You can make such a difference in your life quality, moods, health, energy and vitality by choosing to eat healthy and finding the best possible way to eat for your body.

You may have tried a variety of diets, and perhaps even managed to do well on one or a few for some time. However, the emphasis that most diets place on willpower, deprivation and denial is both unnecessary and counterproductive.

Unless you have a plan that is practical, works with your lifestyle, and takes your individuality into account, the changes you have worked so hard to make will not last. My expertise is in helping you figure out what works best for you.

The food you eat makes the difference and affects all areas of your life. So if you feel like you or your family could use some help in this area, feel free to contact me for a free health consultation! I would love to support you achieve your health goals.

As a Holistic Health Counselor I also want to emphasis on the other important factors that feed us in life besides food.

Love and relationships are part of what we call primary food, or the parts of life that feed the hunger in the human soul. We all have a need to give and receive love because love is a basic primary food that nourishes, energizes and heals us.

You may have noticed that love and health are intrinsically linked. Even modern science is catching up to what ancient traditions have said for years: Love is good for your health.

A study of Harvard students showed that only 25 percent of those who felt loved by their parents developed a major illness later in life, while more than 90 percent of those who didn’t feel loved developed a major illness. Love is the ultimate superfood!

So whether your relationship status says “single, married or it’s complicated”, make it a priority in your life and habits to give and receive love. Whether its hugs and kisses, massage and touch or words of kindness and smiles. Love will feed your heart and soul. We are created with love and to love one another…

When you hug, hug tight.

When you talk, talk with your eyes.

When you listen, listen with your heart.
