Toast to National Margarita Day

Mercadito – River North

This upscale Mexican restaurant is one of the city’s best places for authentic cuisine, speciality tequila and mezcal cocktails. Their cocktail menu has more than 80 mezcals and expertly crafted margarita cocktails. Their traditional margarita is hornitos blanco, grand marnier, lime and agave, and comes with the option to add smoke! Also don’t miss the downstairs La Mez Agave Lounge if you are looking for just cocktails and some of the popular foods from Mercadito’s menu, as well as a fabulous happy hour menu. 

Maya Del Sol

144 S. Oak Park Ave., Oak Park

Oak Park’s Maya Del Sol is a Latin fusion cuisine restaurant with one of the best outdoor patios in the western suburbs, but it also packs a punch when it comes to their margarita options. With tons of top shelf tequila to choose from, Maya Del Sol also gives the option of fresh purees to add into their margaritas like strawberry, prickly pear, mango, pomegranate, blood orange, guava and cucumber. 

Big Star

1531 N. Damen Ave., Chicago

Sometimes it’s best to go with a classic. Wicker Park’s Big Star does the classic margarita with tequila, lime and orange curacao. It’s best done shared by the pitcher with a side of guacamole and chips. They also give the option to make the margarita spicy for just an additional $1 per glass or $4 per pitcher.

If you are looking for a delicious margarita, but can’t get out without the kiddos, Axcan in Forest Park is the place to go. With a full kids’ menus that includes a scoop of homemade ice cream, the kids will be fulfilled while mama can enjoy a tasty margarita and authentic Mexican food. 

Antique Taco

Casual doesn’t equate to simple when it comes to Antique Taco, with locations in Bridgeport and Wicker Park. This cute taco joint has a small menu packed with delicious Mexican fare, including a simple kid’s menu of cheesy quesadilla and pork taco. Their specialty house rosemary margarita combines tequila with fresh lime and orange juices, and adds some herbal sweetness with their rosemary simple syrup and is garnished with a sprig of fresh rosemary.
