Chicago Mom Inspiring Other Mom Entrepreneurs

Genesis Emery isn’t going to let the coronavirus pandemic stop her from trying to help other mamas secure their futures by starting or growing their businesses.

That’s why, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Nov. 14, she is hosting a virtual Mamas Making Money Conference to motivate and inspire other women to become entrepreneurs. The free event “is designed to teach women everything they need to know from start to finish.” It works for women with just a kernel of an idea all the way to the woman who wants to make her business even better.

“I wanted to bring game changers who are inspiring, empowering and they are going to be good role models for women to learn from,” says the single mom with a child with special needs who juggles motherhood and several businesses, including The Little Dapper Collection.

Among the topics will be learning how to start your own business, how to get grants and seed capital to start, how to build generational wealth through real estate, as well as best practices to building and marketing a successful business and more.

“All the things people need to do to be successful,” she says.

Hear from attorney Ryenne C. Shaw, Afenya Montgomery, owner of iCan Collective, Serita Love, brand coach and owner of Success Junkie, Alexandria Ott, owner of Chrome City PR and Hustlecraft, Jeanine Smith, owner of Black Girls in Real Estate, Aaja Corrine, owner of Purpose Potential Podcast, and Brittonia Lewis, founder of Black Mom Collective, as well as Emery.

“I’m really excited to bring this to a community of women who really want to be game changers and make an impact,” she says.

In a perfect world, the conference would be in person, something she hopes to do next year depending on progress in squashing the pandemic.
