Don’t miss The Verve Pipe’s new work

The Verve Pipe’s new album is true to their sound, but kid-friendly and catchy.

If you are a fan of The Verve Pipe’s “adult” music, you must be jumping up and down with joy in celebration of their brand new family music CD, Family Album. Even if you’re not familiar with this Michigan-based band, you need to check out this recording.

You know that a song is catchy when you find yourself singing it after listening to it. That is exactly what happened to me. The first song on the CD, “Wake Up,” came streaming through my mind as soon as my alarm went off the day after I first heard this fabulous CD.

A subtle, but important, feature of this recording is how effortlessly the band moves from one musical style to another. The rockin’ “Wake Up” is followed by a jazzy and playful story about a children’s party where “We Had To Go Home.” What parent, for whatever reason, has not had to leave a party early with a disappointed child or two in tow?

“Complimentary Love” is another superbly written and arranged song with such a great sentiment and groove that you will be cranking the volume. This is not only an outstanding family music song, but I could imagine it on the radio as a pop music hit.

Don’t be surprised if your kids start playing their air guitars (and drums and bass and keyboards) when “Be Part of the Band” comes on. This stadium anthem rocker is a lot of fun and even slips in some great lines that adults will appreciate, too.

I have only been able to mention the first four songs-the remaining six are equally well written and tastefully performed. Great vocals and keen instrumentation choices make this one CD that everyone in your family is sure to enjoy.
