Get out there and play

 

Celebrate your family’s four-legged, scaly, finned and winged pals this Saturday at the 63rd Annual LaGrange Pet Parade. Families and their pets dress up in costumes and march along the parade route with marching bands, the Medinah Black Horse Troop, drill teams and the Jesse White Tumblers.

Pets that march compete in categories, including dogs and pals, pets and pals and pets on wheels. Registration to march in the parade closes today, but you can still download a form on the Web site and pick up your participation packet at one of four locations listed on the Web site.

The LaGrange Pet Parade is free and steps off at 9:30 a.m. The parade runs north along LaGrange Road, from two blocks south of the tracks, then west along Burlington Avenue to Brainard. For more information, call (708) 352-7079 or visit lgpetparade.org.

Now that summer is officially here, it’s time to take the kids to the pool. One lucky Chicago Parent reader will win Toad Toss’n from Magic Cabin. Street festivals are synonymous with summers in Chicago. This weekend, check out the Do-Division Street Fest, Saturday and Sunday. The festival includes food, music, a sidewalk sale and a Family Fun Fest. Kids can have their faces painted, take a ride on a pony, listen to kids’ music and watch performances from Adventure Stage Chicago.
