If you’re looking to fiddle away some time outdoors while listening to great music, pack the stroller and head over to the Chicago Folk& Roots Festival July 10-11. In addition to all the main stage acts, the fest includes kids’ tents with music, art and dance.
“The music at the main stage is music the whole family can enjoy together and it’s a lot of music that’s really fun to dance to, so that draws a lot of families,” says Alicia Manson, arts program manager for the festival.
Most of the children’s activities take place from noon-6 p.m. both days and this year the fest celebrates the 25th anniversary of Wiggleworms with a birthday party at noon on Sunday.
The family barn dance at 3:15 p.m. on Sunday is also a highlight of the fest for families, says Erin Flynn, program manager of early childhood music at Old Town School of Folk Music.
