Get out and play
Head over to the Morton Arboretum, 4100 Lincoln Ave., Lisle, from 1-5 p.m. this Sunday to celebrate Tu B’Shvat, or the Jewish New Year for Trees. Originally, the fruits that grew from Tu B’Shvat were counted on for the following year’s tithes.
The Tu B’Shvat event will include a Jewish fable puppet show, Israeli folk dancers who will teach traditional dances and a Yiddish song group. Tree-related crafts and traditional Jewish foods will also be available.
Because nut trees are just as important as fruit trees, your family can take a tram ride and walking tour of the Arboretum Walnut Family Collection at 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. There is a $3 cost for the tour and it’s recommended for families with kids 3 and up.
Later in the evening, a traditional Seder will be held at 6 p.m.
$47 for adults, $24 for kids 3-12. Reservations are required.
