Immerse yourself in Harry Potter

If you have a Harry Potter fan in the house, don’t miss the new exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry. Opening April 30,"Harry Potter: The Exhibition” features authentic costumes and props from the films displayed in settings inspired by the Hogwarts film sets, including the Gryffindor common room and Hagrid’s hut.

“The mission at the Museum of Science and Industry is to inspire the creative genius in everybody, and we think J.K. Rowling is an amazing example of that,” says Anne Rashford, director of temporary exhibits and events at the museum."She wrote these wonderful books and got a younger and older generation involved in reading again.”

The world premiere exhibit is appropriate for all ages, with nothing scary or spooky to be seen. More than 200 artifacts will be on display and clips from the films will be shown throughout the exhibition hall.

Tickets are currently available online and Rashford recommends buying tickets before coming to the museum to ensure your family’s spot. The exhibit runs until Sept. 27 and requires a time-entry ticket. It will be open during regular museum hours as well as each evening until 9 p.m.

Combination admission into the museum and"Harry Potter” during the day is $26, $19 kids 3-11. After the museum closes, evening hour tickets are $18, $15 kids 3-11. The museum is located at 57th Street and Lake Shore Drive. For more information, visit www.msichicago.org or call (773) 684-1414.
