Traditionally the foods enjoyed on New Year’s day in Japan, Osechi Ryori come in an assortment of colorful dishes packed together in special boxes called jubako, which resemble bento boxes, and each dish has special meaning in welcoming the New Year. For this New Year’s Eve, Chef Mari Katsumura offers two options including crab or lobster motoyaki with crispy potatoes and caviar, kombu-wrapped smoked trout, chawanmushi with La Belle Farms foie gras, hokkaido uni, concord grape and celery, and house-made desserts including coconut mochi cake and red bean dorayaki.
