If it was possible for an animal to be a trend, goats would definitely be having their day in the spotlight. Thanks to our agricultural roots there are plenty of places in Lake County where you can experience the playful love of a goat.
Lambs Farm
Bring your kids to meet kids (aka baby goats) at this perfect for tiny farmers locale. Located right off of Interstate 94, it’s a perfect location to visit even for the city folk who want to experience farm life. In addition to getting up close and personal with the animals, there are shops, a carousel, mini golf and a train ride. All of the activities and admission go to support the work Lambs Farm does to provide meaningful work and life for adults with developmental disabilities.
14245 W. Rockland Road, Libertyville
Kamins Farm
If you have older goat-loving kids, check out this new kid on the block. Kamins Farm offers farm camps and Goat Yoga classes in its heated barn. All funds go to supporting and fostering more animals through Goats of Anarchy.
23377 W. Chardon Road, Grayslake
Green Meadows Petting Farm
If you have bigger kids or those that can tolerate a longer drive, check out these locales, just a little outside of Lake County. This farm may be an hour north of Lake County, but it is beloved by many. Perfect for both toddlers and older children, admission here includes everything, no add-ons (and is frequently on Groupon!). Kids can play, ride a pony and meet all the farm animals — including the goats!
33603 High Drive (Highway 20), East Troy, Wis.
Goats that don’t smell
If you prefer goats in name only, check out Miss Jamie from the Farm. With her friend Benny the Barista, Miss Jaime will have the kids stomping their feet and doing a Do-si-do! Check her website for upcoming performances.
