The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall Thursday of about 1.5 million Graco brand strollers, warning that the hinges on the canopy pose a risk of fingertip amputation.
The affected strollers are: Graco’s Passage, Alano and Spree Strollers and Travel Systems. Five children had their fingertips cut off when they reached into the stroller’s canopy hinge while it was being opened or closed. Two others received injuries.
Pictures of the recalled products are posted on the CPSC’s web site. The recalled strollers were manufactured between October 2004 and February 2008 and the following model numbers are being recalled (you can find the model number and manufacture date on the lower inside portion of the rear frame, just above the rear wheels):
