Get out and play

Explore your favorite president—or discover which one you like the best—at the Chicago History Museum, 1601 N. Clark St., Chicago, during the free Presidents Day Celebration from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. This drop-in event includes songs, stories, crafts and musical and dramatic performances. Meet George Washington—played by Terry Lynch—in“George Washington: From Mt. Vernon to Washington, D.C.” at the Des Plaines Public Library, 1501 Ellinwood St., Des Plaines, at 3 p.m. Mr. Washington will tell his life story in this one man play. This event is free. Let your kids get down with the boogie-beat at Lifeline Theatre, 6912 N. Glenwood Ave., Chicago, for a three hour workshop starting at 9 a.m. There, your kids will work with members of the theatre’s break dance troupe, Connect Force, to learn the break dancing basics. Our first president needs your help to lead the country in“George Washington Follies” at the Lake Villa District Library, 1001 E. Ambassador

We’re looking for loyal readers, like you, to be a Chicago Parent ambassador. Chicago Parent ambassadors have the opportunity to interact with other Chicago Parent readers by working at fun, lively community events sponsored by Chicago Parent throughout the city and suburbs.

 

A Chicago Parent ambassador must be friendly and customer-oriented. Duties include distributing goody bags, answering questions about Chicago Parent magazine and registering people interested in receiving the Chicago Parent Weekend E-dition.

 

Base pay is $8.50 an hour and we reimburse for parking expenses. In some cases, complementary tickets are available for family and friends. There are lots of giveaways from other vendors at most of these events, too.
