What is Chicago Parent’s Best Of Awards?
Chicago Parent’s Best Of Awards highlight the best editorial picks and reader suggestions for Chicagoland families in the way of Places, Escapes, Bites, Play and Adults Only.
How It Works
Chicago Parent’s Best of Awards is an editorial and reader-based recognition program showcasing the best parenting, baby and kid offerings in the Chicagoland area. Through a combination of editorial curation and reader voting, we will pick winners in the following categories: Places, Escapes, Bites, Play and Adults Only. Readers will be able to submit for their favorite place, service or product in each of these categories to become finalists. Editorial staff at Chicago Parent will cull nominations for each category and release reader submitted ones as appropriate. Reader submitted categories must have a minimum of 10 votes to be considered. Then once submissions are processed, the final reader submitted choices will be released for public voting. All winners in reader submitted categories will be selected by the number of total votes. The voting and nomination process will be open to the public with one vote per email, per award.
Terms and Timeline for Chicago Parent’s Best Of Awards
Chicago Parent’s Chicago Parent’s Best of Awards 2013 is scheduled as follows: Reader nominations in the various categories will take place starting on Sept. 16, 2013 through Oct. 2, 2013. After the nomination process closes, readers will then be able to nominate or vote on nominees from Oct. 3, 2013 to Oct. 18, 2013.After that, voting tallies will be culled by Chicago Parent editorial staff for inclusion in the January 2014 issue of Chicago Parent magazine and released online in late December 2013.
How can I participate?
As a reader/nominator, you can participate in the Chicago Parent’s Best of Awards simply by nominating your favorite local places, activities, and events at the wwww.chicagoparent.com/best nomination page or voting for the finalists during the voting period by selecting a category you want to vote for on and choosing the business, place, activity or event you like on the voting page.
As a place, event, activity, you can participate in the Chicago Parent’s Best of Awards by nominating your business in the most relevant category under Places, Escapes, Bites, Play and Adults Only.
Can I nominate in more than one category?
You can nominate a place, activity or event in any relevant category.
How can I get my place, event or activity nominated for the Chicago Parent’s Best of Awards?
You can simply nominate your business on www.chicagoparent.com/best during the nomination process. The verified businesses in each category will then advance to the voting period where businesses and readers can encourage fans to vote for their reader favorite choice. Once the voting period concludes, the businesses with the most votes in the reader categories will be tallied and vetted by Chicago Parent editors for release in the January 2014 issue of Chicago Parent.

- Best places to explore nature
- Best animal adventures
- Best place for train-watching
- Adults only:
- Best places to flirt with your husband
- Best places to forget you have kids
- Best spots to act like a kid
- Best places for a little “me” time
- Best spots for moms’ night out
How can I nominate?
Nominate a business by simply going to www.chicagoparent/best and filling out the nomination form.
How can I vote?
On www.chicagoparent.com/best choose the category you would like to vote for. Once you are on the category voting page, you will see the list of the finalists. Follow the instructions and vote!
How many times can I vote or nominate?
Only one user can vote for each award. The voting and nominating process is limited to one vote/nomination per email per category. If the user tries to vote more than once in the same category using the same email, they will get an error and will not be able to complete the voting and/or nomination.
How will the winners be announced and what will they receive?
For reader voted submissions, we will announce winners in the January 2014 issue of Chicago Parent magazine and release the winners online in late December 2013. The Chicago Parent team will contact each winner and top finalists and then the winners will be publicly announced five ways:
- With a dedicated email to the entire Chicago Parent mailing list.
- On the official Chicago Parent winners page online.
- Chicago Parent will send a press release to announce the winners.
- Throughout Chicago Parent’s blogger and partner network.
- Winners will be announced to Chicago Parent’s mailing list through a dedicated email.
- Winners will be listed on Chicago Parent’s website for a year.
