Summer travel is filled with adventure, excitement, family bonding and the mind-numbing question of what the heck to pack.
This month I’m sharing a few bits of fabulousness for which you’ll definitely want to make room.
One piece wonders
How many times have your stood over your bed trying to mix and match outfits to throw into the hungry jaws of your suitcase?
This year, instead of lots of shorts and shirts, opt for a few good dresses and call it a day. They are way easier to pack and can be dressed down with flips during the day and worn with cute espadrilles for evening.
Here are two of my favorites right now:
Chambray Camp Shirt Dress, $79, L.L. Bean
Note: This one also will look fantastic this autumn with high knee socks, tall boots and a blazer. Just sayin’.
The Webster Scoop Neck Dress in Melon/Navy, $39.99, Target
Hawt summer hair
We may not have the bodies of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit models, but at least we can have their hair! Introducing “A Perfect Mess Beach Hair.” Just spritz this on damp hair and give a little shake, and you too can look like ya grew up in Malibu. It’s also infused with marine botanicals (which just means it’s better for your hair than Aqua Net), and has something called “light filter technology” that gives your mane a sun-kissed shine.
A simple way to achieve fabulous hair while on vacation-or at a staycation at the local pool.

Clean yourself up
Stop buying separate travel sizes of your favorite shampoos and body washes and grab a bottle of this all-in-one cleaner upper. If you don’t know the Philosophy brand, you should. It is the maker of the loveliest smelling get-clean goods around. The “Falling In Love, summer” shampoo, bath and shower gel makes scrubbing-up after a day at the beach simply delightful.

Suit yourself
This is the perfect mom bikini (which I realize sounds like the perfect oxymoron).
If you think you do not need at least one new swimsuit each season, you’re just wrong. I am as guilty as the next girl of trying to make suits stretch over several seasons. But if you’ve had one over several seasons, it’s definitely stretched…out.
When I saw this brilliant bikini bottom I started clapping and jumping up and down. I may have also yelled hallelujah as well.
With its perfect tummy ruching, full coverage, high waist and retro vibe, it gets my two thumbs up.
Caspian Paisley High Waist Brief, $48, J. Crew
And is its lovely mate: A bandeau, beautifully underwired.
Hidden Under Wire Bandeau Top, $52, J. Crew
Finally, whether you snag the matching swimsuit or not, this tunic can be thrown in your bag and serve as a stunning beach cover-up, summer dress or tunic matched with summer’s favorite pant, the white denim. Three in one. Now that’s how we pack, ladies.
Tunic, $78, J. Crew
