As moms, we are usually the primary gift buyers during the holidays. We battle Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and even Small Business Saturday, all for the good of the gifts. And we often have nothing to say when we’re asked, “What do you want this year?”
Well girls, here’s a gathering of goodies to help you have a proper reply to that question
OM sweet OM
Every mom I know slaps “get fit” on their list of resolutions come New Year’s Eve. (Even when we say we aren’t making resolutions anymore.) And we all like to look good while we sweat. We do.
I’ve recently discovered a line of fitness wear that can take you from downward dog to crazy carpool and on to dang-I-gotta-make-dinner with comfort, ease and style.
Omala yoga wear has created super-soft bamboo-derived pieces that not only feel divine, but are also good for the environment (in case you have “recycle more” on that non-resolution list as well).
My absolute favorite piece is the brilliant “Skegging,” a leggings/skirt marriage made in covers-my-butt-beautifully heaven. The side drawstring on the skirt gives it additional kicked-up style. Comes in gem-blue and charcoal, $85.
Pair it with the Celeste Bamboo Racer back tank and you’re more than good-to-go. Comes in gem-blue, loganberry and orchid, $65.
Sexy in the Sack
If you’re still sleeping in your husband’s T-shirt and boxers with words on the rump, I implore you (and so does your husband) to STOP, drop and roll them into a ball … and throw them in the trash.
There is a way to look sexy when you hit the sheets without freezing your nether regions and feeling like you’re wearing glorified dental floss.
Here are three choices from Bare Necessities that bring back old-school sexy.
Lauren by Ralph Lauren Paris Sateen Pajamas, $72. These are soft and warm but cut for a woman’s shape, with a more modern floral design that’s quite fetching.
Fairmont Satin Pajama, $85. It’s what Katherine Hepburn would have worn when trying to woo Cary Grant. Old School boyfriend chic.
Japanese Weekend nursing PJ set, $74, comes in black and cobalt blue. Finally a PJ for nursing moms that’s as chic as it is functional.
Go Vintage
Remember those boy/girl silhouette charms many of our moms wore on crowded charm bracelets to symbolize their brood? Well, M&B Vintage has brought them back around in necklace form. They’re the perfectly stunning throwback piece to remind you of your most precious gifts-your kiddos. Or get one that’s all about you. A dear friend gave me the girl charm for my birthday with my initials on it, and it’s become one of my favorite go-to jewelry staples.
“Go Girl” necklace in sterling, $78, mandbvintage.com.
Flower Therapy
I love fresh flowers in my home, and I don’t wait for anyone else to buy them for me. So when I heard about the brand new flower delivery service in Chicago called H. Bloom, it was a must-wish-for this holiday season.
If you order the “classic” package, you get fresh, seasonal flowers delivered monthly for only $29 per month. You can order them for as many months as you’d like.
Plus, one of its floral designers posts an online video each month for you to use when arranging the flowers once they’ve arrived.
You can find info on all of the packages at hbloom.com
