A vacation for your closet
Although you might not be heading to the Hamptons, there’s a good chance a trip is in store during your kids’ three months of summer-time bliss. This means you’re going to need a few new items to fill your suitcase, something that can be a little difficult when you’re on a budget. Make travel easy with summery, comfy clothes from Lilly& Van, available at www.qvc.com.
Designed by husband and wife team Lilly and Barry “Van” van Gerbig, the line offers bold, colorful prints-all Van’s original designs-on clothes you won’t find yourself pulling at, or scratching under. From dresses and shorts to tops and jackets, the line was designed to inspire happiness in the wearer.
“Van’s artwork is unique,” Lilly says of the vibrant prints. “It’s bright, beautiful colors. He likes to hide little details in every print.” The duo’s inspiration comes from Lilly’s godmother, designer Lilly Pulitzer, who set the pair up on a blind date.
“Everything we wanted in the line we got,” the Florida designer says of the partnership with QVC. “It’s hard being a designer; there are restraints put on you. You can’t always do what you want to do. They totally embraced our vision.”
See the newest Lilly& Van line when the designer appears on QVC at midnight May 14. Clothes range from $27-$65.
Ring it on
Two is always better than one.
As far as rings go, you have some fabulous baubles in your jewelry box, but something’s definitely missing. A twosome ring. Why adorn one finger when you can frost two? Erica Anenberg’s line of twosome rings pack quite the punch, especially when they’re dripping in Swarovski crystals.
Modeled on double rings from eras ago, Anenberg, the line’s namesake and designer, admits she didn’t come up with the idea, but she’s taking all the credit for bringing the trend back. “In the ’80s they had knuckledusters, and in the ’90s they were more hip-hop/rocker,” Anenberg says. “I just thought they’d be super cool, more delicate, more classic.”
The trend took a few years to catch on, she admits. The classic shape is eye-catching and comfortable to wear. The Classic Sparkle Twosome with 100 Swarovski crystals, $144, is available in gold and silver plated and in nine crystal colors.
If decking out two fingers is one too many, the California designer also offers a Braille line, with messages such as “see no evil” and “love is blind.” The decoded message is hidden on the inside of each piece. “The possibilities are almost endless,” Anenberg says.
Erica Anenberg rings range from $47-$144. The designer, www.ericaanenberg.com, also offers earrings, bracelets and necklaces.
