Dia del NiƱo (Day of the Child)

Life as parents revolves around the kids, but did you know in Mexico there’s a whole day set apart to celebrate your munchkins?

DĆa del NiƱo (Day of the Child) is a national holiday there, and Chicago’s National Museum of Mexican Art brings it to the U.S. with a festival of art, culture, health, nutrition, and fitness.

Get free health screenings, try your hand (er, foot) at hopscotch or an obstacle course, take a 2.1-mile health walk, or take part in some hands-on art activities. The weather’s getting nice, so get out and get going!

Free. 11 a.m.-3 p.m. April 14. UIC Pavilion, 525 S. Racine Ave., Chicago. nationalmuseumofmexicanart.org.
