Last week, New York Times columnist Gail Collins gave Illinois the distinct honor of being the nation’s most politically inept, corrupt and backwards state. (Worth a read if you missed it.) And we’re just five months removed from losing out to a city with a murder rate five times higher than New York City’s for the Olympics.
But in the world of lists-we’d-rather-not-be-at-the-top-of, there’s some good news today from Forbes, which put Chicago fifth on its list of the worst winter-weather cities.
Fifth, I say! Chicago came in behind Cleveland, Boston, New York City and Milwaukee.
We’re No. 5! We’re No. 5! I’m thinking of having foam hands made.
I know this won’t mean much when you’re digging out your car, stuffing the kids into Michelin-man style snow gear, and scrubbing salt stains off your favorite boots, but there you go. The snow is always lighter on the other side of the country…or something like that.
