Bring on the glitter and glue

‘The mess and fun wrapped up in one” is one way owner Kathy Kent describes the Creative Learning Art Studio for Kids.

Children from 18 months to age 13 can let their imaginations run wild. Walking into the studio, you’ll find yourself stepping all over a canvas: The entire floor is a chalkboard. Ceramic tiles hang on the wall, awaiting the young artist’s brush. A water table floats toys that relate to the theme of the month. Aprons keep the"creative juices” from flowing onto clothing, but this is a place where nobody cries over a little spilled paint.

Scattered throughout the rest of the studio are craft tables and art easels with all the necessary supplies: glue, glitter, paint, markers, crayons and paper. Then there are monthly themes that bring in many additional ingredients: modeling foam, goop, sand clay, finger paint, scratch-and-sniff water, beads and more.

Studio hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday. Drop-in studio time is $10 per child for two hours. With a reservation, children 3 and up can be dropped off for supervised art time for an additional cost. Call ahead to make sure they have availability for drop-ins, as they also offer camps, classes and birthday parties. Family memberships are also available.

Creative Learning Art Studio for Kids is located at 37 E. Main St., Roselle. Call (630) 351-8216 or visit www.artstudio4kids.com for more information.
