Bird Day at Moraine Hills State Park

No, “Bird Day” isn’t some kid’s cute way of saying “birthday.” It’s an actual, legitimate holiday (technically called “Migratory Bird Day”) that you can commemorate by going on a bird behavior scavenger hunt, taking the Great Migration Challenge and signing a Bird Action Pledge.

Plus, you can look through a spotting scope or take a short bird walk, perfect for your eagle-eyed kids. We’re most excited to try something called Jeop-Birdy-think it’s anything like Angry Birds?

Free. Noon-4 p.m. April 28. Moraine Hills State Park/McHenry Dam, 1510 S. River Road, McHenry. (815) 344-1294, dnr.state.il.us/lands/Landmgt/parks/r2/morhills.htm.
