Get out there and play
With Easter on Sunday and sunny forecasts, Saturday will be perfect for a few egg hunts. Get the little ones pumped for brightly colored eggs filled with treats and a visit with a very friendly, giant bunny. You might want to grab your camera for this springtime experience.
In the city, hang out with the bunny at two Chicago parks. From 10:30-11 a.m., kids 2-3 can meet Mr. Hippity Hop at the Playlot in Berger Park and Cultural Center, 6205 N. Sheridan Road. Later, kids 4 and under can meet Mr. Hippity Hop at the Tot Spot in Loyola Park, 1230 W. Greenleaf Ave., from 11-11:30 a.m. During hunts at the parks, kids can search for eggs to win a prize. At the Discovery Center and the Burpee Museum, Easter is taking over for one great, big Egg Hunt. Kids 9 and under can search for eggs at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The neighboring museums are hosting springtime crafts, science activities and baby animals to pet. It is recommended that families arrive at least 20 minutes prior to the hunt. Admission is and allows access to both museums, members free. Parking is free. Kids 1-8 can search for eggs at the Naperville Easter Egg Hunt at the Frontier Sports Complex, 95th Street (east of Route 59) at 10 a.m. After the free hunt, the Easter Bunny will make a special appearance. It is recommended that families bring a non-perishable, non-glass food donation for the Naperville Jaycees, who are hosting the event. Arrive early for the hunt. For a different twist on egg hunts, head over to the Timbers of Shorewood, 1100 N. River Road, Shorewood, for both indoor and outdoor fun at the Hippity-Hop Easter Egg Hunt. The indoor hunt, recommended for age 1-3, will occur in a balloon-filled room at noon. Outside, kids 1 and up can hunt the ground at 12:30 p.m. for a chance at prizes. Meet the Easter Bunny, hang out with Chuckles the Clown, take a pony ride, pet 20-30 different animals—including a llama, calf and mini-donkey—and watch a juggler, magician and a caricature artist. Start celebrating Earth Day (April 22) early on Saturday at the Museum of Contemporary Art through art and hands-on projects at Family Days: Spring Greening. The projects focus on real and imaginary notions of the environment. The museum will be hosting scavenger hunts and Look‘n’ Learn stations.
