Apple Surprise and Tasting Party

After you explore the stars inside each apple, cut three or four different kinds of apples into small slices and let everyone try a piece of each one. Each taster can choose their favorite one.

Did you know? Apples have stars inside them!

Instructions:

Be sure to have a knife, small cutting board and an apple ready to cut at the end of the story to show your children the surprise inside each apple. Remember to cut the apple crosswise, across the width of the apple (see photo) to see the star inside. Try cutting different varieties of apples and see how the stars differ.

After you explore the stars inside each apple, cut three or four different kinds of apples into small slices and let everyone try a piece of each one. Each taster can choose their favorite one.

You can even make a simple graph to show which apple was liked the most. In a column on the left side of the paper, write the variety of each apple being tasted. Younger children can make a simple tally mark after their favorite apple while older children can write their name. After everyone has chosen their favorite, total up each row and see which apple wins.
