Another 170,000 cribs recalled

The federal government recalled another 170,000 cribs Thursday for a potentially deadly hazard, adding to the list of troubles with drop-side cribs.

The Sorelle or Golden Baby cribs have sides that drop down to give parents easier access to babies. But the drop-side hardware can slip, allowing the side to separate from the tracks and creating a space for babies to suffocate, strangle or fall out of the crib.

More than 5 million drop-side cribs were recalled in 2009 amid similar safety concerns.

For more information, visit the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s recall page or contact the manufacturer directly at (877)791-9398.
