American Girl announces 2011 Girl of the Year doll and National Wildlife Federation partnership

In the Hawaiian spirit of helping others, American Girl has partnered with the National Wildlife Federation to raise awareness of endangered animals like the Hawaiian monk seal, while also introducing the 2011 Girl of the Year, Kanani Akina.

Her story takes place in Hawaii’s tropical paradise, and teaches little girls that everyone has something to share that can make life better for someone else. The 18-in. Kanani doll, outfits, books and accessories are limited edition and available for just one year.

$1 from each Kanani plush monk seal purchased will go to NWF’s wildlife education programs.
