Where to find the best Chicago events and activities inspired by the new ‘Wicked’ film

Chicago is buzzing with Oz-inspired events as “Wicked: For Good” hits the big screen—discover the screenings, parties and magical activities happening all week.

“Wicked: For Good” is finally flying onto screens this week and the city of Chicago is certainly celebrating. From special screenings to dance workshops, there are plenty of ways for young fans to step into the magic. Check out some of the enchanting events happening all over the city and surrounding suburbs. 

Special Film Screenings 

Stages “Wicked: For Good” Screening Party

12:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, 2025

Stages Chicago has reserved a private theater at AMC New City in Lincoln Park. Before the show, there will be face-painting, sing-alongs and other “Wicked-themed activities. Costumes are encouraged. Proceeds from the event support Stages Chicago’s Financial Aid Fund which makes musical theater accessible to kids across the city. Tickets must be purchased in advance.

Elk Grove Classic Cinema Screening of “Wicked: For Good”

9:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, 2025

As an affordable option for a screening party in the Chicago area, the Chicago Mainliner is hosting an event at the Elk Grove Theater. Parking is free and tickets include a $5 concession coupon.

“Wicked” Eats and Treats 

Defying Gravi-tea Afternoon Tea at the Langham Hotel

Noon-3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, 2025; 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 22-23, 2025

Experience the magical afternoon tea service at the Langham Hotel while enjoying “Wicked”-inspired treats and live harp music. A truly spellbinding event, this afternoon tea is sure to make you feel like you’ve stepped into the Emerald City itself. Advance reservations are required.

“Wicked”-Themed Treats at Stan’s Donuts  

All day, Friday, Nov. 21, 2025

Stan’s Donuts is adding a little magic to your day this Friday with a secret one-day treat inspired by “Wicked: For Good”. Fans can stop by for donuts as pink or green as Glinda and Elphaba themselves.

Culvers “Wicked” Family Party

5 p.m.-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, 2025

Feel like dinner and a movie? The Culver’s of Six Corners is throwing a whimsical party complete with a showing of the first “Wicked” movie. Kids can enjoy a face painter, participate in a raffle and show off their pink and green outfits.

Get ready to tap your toes and sing along to the epic “Wicked: For Good” soundtrack at Shuga Records. There will be prizes and giveaways so guests are encouraged to channel their inner Glinda or Elphaba with fun outfits.

“Wicked: For Good” at McFetridge Sports Center

2:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025

The McFetridge Sports Center is hosting a one-hour dance workshop where kids can learn choreography inspired by the musical. As a part of Chicago Park District’s “Night Out in the Park” event series, all ages and levels of dancers are welcome and jazz shoes are recommended but not required.

LOVV The Dance Studio “Wicked” Workshop

5 p.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2025

Dance your way down the yellow brick road at LOVV The Dance Studio with their “Wicked”-themed Broadway workshop. Steve Ewing from the original Chicago cast will be there for a Q&A and behind-the-scenes stories. Older dancers, ages 7-12, can learn original choreography, and younger dancers, ages 3-6 can also twirl through Oz.

If you’re looking for a completely free way to celebrate the release of “Wicked: For Good”, head over to Oz Park in the Lincoln Park neighborhood to enjoy the Oz-themed playground and garden. You can even spot statues of classic characters like Dorothy and Tin Man.
