There are so many great restaurants to choose from in Toronto. When traveling with kids, I’ve found Italian and Mexican cuisines tend to please most palates.
But if you’ve got more adventurous eaters, there are so many fantastic choices in Toronto. Here are some family-friendly restaurants that won’t disappoint even the pickiest eaters.Â

Life is too short to eat bad pizza
Pizzeria Liberetto was one of the first restaurants in Toronto to serve true Neapolitan pizza, cooked at high heat with in a brick oven. They now have five locations around Toronto, serving Neapolitan and New York-style pizzas as well as vegan and gluten-free options.
Both the kids in our group went for cheese pizzas, but the adults explored choices like Duck Confit with pear and rosemary and Capricciosa Pesto with artichokes, mushrooms, olives and ham. The crust was crisp yet chewy and the sauce was just right.
Take me for tacos
The Distillery Historic District, with its brick-lined streets, twinkling lights, eclectic shops and restaurants is worth visiting on its own. I highly recommend making you’re way there when you’re hungry.
My daughter and I dined at El Catrin Destilera and could not recommend it more. The vibes are on-par inside and outside, with funky paintings on the inside walls and a heated outdoor patio.
They serve authentic traditional and modern Mexican dishes, such as ceviches, tapas and tacos. We ordered guacamole, which they make tableside, chicken tinga flautas and Pibil chicken. Our food was fabulous. Plus, our server was fabulous about getting us in and out at an enjoyable yet efficient pace because we had a show to catch.Â
Did someone say chocolate?
The food stop my daughter was most looking forward to was SOMA Chocolatemaker and it did not disappoint. They have three stores that sell their small batch chocolates. Find an array of tempting options, from truffles to toffee as well as cookies and gelato. It’s hard not to spend a small fortune buying treats for yourselves and others. We scooped up creamy gelato and Half-popped Popcorn Toffee along with a few chocolate bars for our family back home.Â
Love you a brunch
Brunch is the best, especially when there’s an artful array of options to start the day. Israel’s famous Cafe Landwer opened three locations around Toronto, as well as a few in the States.
You’ll find Shakshukas (eggs poached in tomato sauce) and Mediterranean mezze plates with delicious dips and warm pita bread, as well as fun coffee drinks and traditional breakfast dishes.
My daughter was very happy with her acai bowl and Nutella hot chocolate. My eyes were bigger than my stomach when I ordered mezze with fried cheese in tomato sauce, hummus, feta dip, baba ghanoush and falafel with pita, but I did not regret my decision.Â
