Fun in the sun with pools and ocean adventures
Only a 4.5-hour direct flight from Chicago, Punta Cana is a sun-seeker’s dream with temperatures that hover in the high 80’s most of the year. Swimming in the beautiful ocean waters was by and far our favorite activity when we visited.
There’s also a main pool surrounded by lounge chairs and a children’s pool by the kids’ club area.
Exciting activities for all ages from flying trapeze to archery
I suggest viewing the rotating schedule of activities on the Club Med app. There are 32 included activities and 35 on demand choices
Club Med is known for their circus schools and the Punta Cana location features a flying trapeze. My 13-year-old daughter gave it a go and said it was surreal to grab the bar and swing, and that it wasn’t too scary to hang from her knees. We also watched kids as little as age 4 climb up the ladder and swing on the flying trapeze.
Archery is also a family favorite. It’s always fun to line up your bow and score a bullseye. My daughter and I played beach volleyball against a couple from Switzerland. A lot of the fun at Club Med is meeting guests from all over the world. We danced to some pretty sick beats in an oceanfront Zumba class, where we both learned some new moves and laughed along the way.
And there’s more! Check out arts and crafts, aqua aerobics and sunrise yoga classes. You can golf, go to the spa, kitesurf, or scuba dive. Learn new skills at sailing school or tennis school. Kayak, standup paddleboard or play pickleball. Snorkel, take dance classes or try your hand at bocce ball or table tennis. Rent a wingfoil (which is cross between windsurfing and kiteboarding) or horseback ride on the beach. Rent a boat and water ski or wakeboard.
Sign up for kid’s club
Children’s clubs are a huge part of the draw to Club Med. Kids are grouped between ages 4-10, 11-13 and 14-17. They can attend activities like trapeze, golf or sailing lessons with their peers. Babies and toddler activities come at an extra cost. There are also family activities like ping pong tournaments and face painting.
Evening entertainment
Evenings are filled with live music and shows. We enjoyed the jugglers and talented aerial acrobats that twisted and spun at the evening circus show. You can also book offsite excursions to get a taste of the local surroundings. So there’s practically no way you could be bored.
