1. Hispaniola
Hispaniola is the main buffet restaurant. It’s open air and right on the water so you can listen to the splashing waves and soak in the gorgeous views while you dine. Peruse the cheese, fruit, pasta, vegan and Caribbean stations, then dine on the beachfront terrace.
2. Samana
Samana is indoor and air conditioned, next to the Rotonde and main bar, where most of the evening entertainment happens. Samana seems to serve the same international buffet that Hispaniola does, with the addition of a soft-serve ice cream machine.
3. Indigo
Indigo is open for table service breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner. Dinner is reservation only and focused on seafood.
For breakfast, I tried the Dominican Republic Breakfast, which consists of two fried eggs with mashed plantains, fried cheese and salami. Lunch featured a salad bar that you can select your items from and they toss for you.
My daughter and I both enjoyed the grilled paprika chicken. Snacks consist of burgers, hot dogs, tacos, fried fish sandwiches and a fresh fruit plate. At dinner, Indigo serves bread with butter and a dish of flavored salts. We ate shrimp and octopus with a lovely cilantro aioli and truffle mashed potatoes.
Our overall thoughts of Club Med Punta Cana restaurants
At the buffets, it’s hard not to try everything as there are so many enticing options. We enjoyed Pad Thai and satay skewers one night and chicken curry another. The Dominican station, where you can try traditional foods like Sancocho stew served with white rice and avocado, was fun to sample. My daughter couldn’t get enough of the tropical fruits. The sweet, juicy mango is beyond compare to what we have access to back home. There’s a large, refrigerated cheese section, likely a nod to Club Med’s French heritage.
At breakfast, my daughter’s eyes almost bulged out of her head when she saw a giant Nutella dispenser. She topped crepes with fruit and Nutella and was in her own version of heaven. There are also omelet stations, hash browns, bacon, sausage, croissants, smoothies, and acai bowls to start your day in a scrumptious way.
It’s impossible to resist the dessert stations. An entire case of ice cream and sorbet flavors offers wonderful treats on warm nights. There are beautiful pastries, enticing cakes, flans and cookies. A milk cake topped with marshmallow cream made my eyes roll back in my head. My daughter found a gluten-free almond oat cluster that caused her to go back for seconds.
