Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic is renowned for its sugary, white sand beaches and clear, turquoise waters. The weather is warm year-round with 80-degree temperatures that lure beach-seekers in, especially when it’s cold in other parts of the globe.
Club Med offers over 70 all-inclusive vacation destinations, and Punta Cana is their flagship family resort. An iconic French brand, Club Med is known for their abundance of activities, from circus school to aqua aerobics, and quirky lingo. Hint: G.O.s are “Gracious Organizers”, like cruise directors on land.

Best family activities at Club Med Punta Cana
By and far, the powdery beaches with aquamarine waters are what beckon families to Punta Cana. The clear waters are so warm and beautiful, surrounded by palm trees and palapa huts, you can’t help but think you’ve been transported into the middle of an Instagram shoot.
The second my 13-year-old daughter saw the beach she ran for it. She didn’t want to leave the warm waters except to eat. With just her goggles on, she was able to observe colorful fish scuttling about. She said it’s the best ocean swimming she’s ever experienced.
Club Med Punta Cana is a 100-acre resort with 32 included activities. Tip: Download the Club Med app to see the schedule as well as the dinner dress code (which is only suggested, but fun if you can coordinate). There’s a large Main Pool, which hosted a water inflatable course one day during our stay.
Club Med is known for their Circus School, and the Punta Cana location features a flying trapeze. My daughter learned to swing in the breeze, tuck her legs on the bar and bounce into the net. Other activity choices include water sports like kayaking and sailing or land sports like archery and tennis lessons. You choose what works best for you.
Children’s Clubs are a large part of the Club Med appeal. Group activities are included for kids ages 4 to 17. Services for babies and children up to age 3 can be booked for an additional cost on demand. Kids activities include tournaments, water fun, arts & crafts and circus skills. You can also book evening pajama clubs at an additional costs so adults can enjoy a night out.

Accommodation options
Club Med Punta Cana has a range of accommodation options for families, that often feature separate rooms for kids. We stayed in a Family Deluxe Room. It included a large bed in the main room with a lounge area and furnished balcony, then a separate bedroom with two twin beds. Club Med also offers luxury suites with a private swimming pool and an Exclusive Collection that accommodates up to 6 people.

All-inclusive food and beverages
Part of the pleasure of staying at an all-inclusive resort is knowing that food and beverages are all taken care of. There are three restaurants on-site at Club Med Punta Cana.
Hispaniola (the name of the island that the Dominican Republic shares with Haiti) is the main buffet restaurant. It’s open air on the ocean and serves a global buffet of flavors. Samana is another buffet restaurant, but located by the main bar and pool area for easy access. Indigo is a waterfront beach lounge where you can order your own meal. Reservations are required for dinner.
There are also 5 bars on-site so your next pina colada isn’t too far away! Here are more recommendations on what to eat at Club Med Punta Cana.
