Boca Raton for family vacations

No matter your criteria for an ideal beach vacation, it’s a good bet the Boca Beach Club fits the bill. After all, the Beach Club is part of the Waldorf Astoria family and from the beautifully decorated guest rooms to the excellent dining options, it practically oozes luxury. Plus, the attentive service makes you feel like royalty.

The resort features three different pools, two specifically for families. Those looking for a home-base during pool time can rent a private cabana, which comes complete with a bathroom, shower and TV area, and is ideal if you have little ones who need to nap.

If you’re looking for the stereotypical beach scene, you’ll find it here. The private half-mile stretch of sand overlooks the Atlantic Ocean, where you can try various water sports. On holiday weekends, a professional sculptor from Travel Channel’s Sand Masters gives demonstrations, and kids can try castle-building at the Kids Beach Oasis.

To take advantage of those beach breezes, the Beach Club has a “kite concierge” who fills the sky with a range of shapes and colors each weekend. Bike riders can rent bright green bikes to explore the area. And kids will enjoy “walking on water” in the Cabana Pool, listening to a free story hour through a partnership with Random House, and trying out the shaved ice cart.

Mom and dad need some time to try the spa or golf course, so there’s Camp Boca, a supervised program for kids 3-12, taking them on fun adventures. And since it’s bound to rain at some point, the camp offers a kid-friendly space with arts and crafts and a Wii.

Guests also can enjoy amenities at The Beach Club’s sister resort, the Boca Raton Resort& Club, which is accessible by ferry and shuttle bus. If you have older kids, just give them the room card, and they can enjoy a frozen hot chocolate at Serendipity without needing cash or adult supervision.
