Celebrate Pride Month at Kid-Friendly Events in Chicagoland

Local spots are offering great family options to celebrate Pride.

June is Pride Month and that means there are tons of family-friend events happening all month long in Chicagoland. Check out the parades, music fests, storytelling and craft activities that go along with the Pride Month theme.

Drag Queen Story Time & Butterfly Parade at Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum

Dress up like a butterfly and join Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum for story time with their friends from Kiki Queens. Hear stories about butterflies and join the parade. Tickets include access to all museum exhibits.

Drag Story Time at Coleman Branch

June 1, 2024

Ages 0-5 can come out to Coleman Branch to join a special Pride Month story time featuring a local drag artist. Registration required.

Pride Shirts & Totes at Altgeld Branch

June 3, 2024

Teens ages 13-plus can join Altgeld Branch to design their own pride T-shirt or tote bag. Snacks and supplies will be provided.

Pride Storytime at Santori Library

June 4, 2024

Ages 0-5 can enjoy a storytime about love, acceptance and being proud of who you are, in honor of Pride Month. Wear your best rainbow gear.

DIY Pride Flags at Eola Road Branch

June 6, 2024

Ages 12 and up can join the library to create a Pride flag, just in time for Aurora’s annual Pride Parade happening on June 11. They will provide small flags that can be decorated.

June 9, 2024

This annual parade is celebrating its fourth year. It begins at E. Benton Street and Broadway and travels northeast to Downer, then left on Downer to end at N. Middle Avenue.

Rainbow Story Time at South Shore Branch

June 10, 2024

Ages 0-5 can join the South Shore Branch for a rainbow story time that celebrates love. Participate in songs, rhymes, books and more.

Pride Prints at Lincoln Belmont Branch

June 14, 2024

Ages 13 and up can come out to Lincoln Belmont Branch to make a Pride-themed 3D print using rainbow filament.

Rainbow Storytime & Craft at West Branch

June 14, 2024

Ages 6-11 can enjoy a special storytime about love, acceptance and being proud of who you are. There will be a craft, too.

DIY Perler Pride at Merlo Branch

June 15, 2024

Ages 6 and up can come out to Merlo Branch to use Perler fuse beads to make a Pride-themed keychain or pin. Attendance is first-come, first-served.

Drag Story Time at Uptown Branch

June 15, 2024

Ages 0-5 can come out to Uptown Branch to join a special Pride Month story time featuring a local drag artist. Registration required.

Drag Story Time at Logan Square Branch

June 17, 2024

Ages 0-5 can come out to Logan Square Branch to join a special Pride Month story time featuring a local drag artist. Registration required.

Rainbow Storytime & Craft at Eola Road Branch

June 17, 2024

Ages 0-5 can enjoy a special storytime about love, acceptance and being proud of who you are. There will be a craft, too.

Chicago Pride Fest

June 22-23, 2024

  • Address: Halsted from Addison to Grace, Chicago
  • Cost: $15/suggested donation

The festival features live music on three stages, a Youth Pride Space for teens, more than 150 vendors, drag shows, pet parade, dance exhibitions and more.

Ages 0-5 can come out to Back of the Yards Branch to join a special Pride Month story time featuring a local drag artist. Registration required.

Navy Pier Pride

June 29, 2024

Families with kids of all ages can enjoy this family-friendly event that spreads pier-wide. There will be a variety of performances all day long. Experience music, dance, storytelling and other activities.

Tiny Bubbles ‘Ukulele Band at Little Village Branch

June 29, 2024

Kids ages 2-13 can see Tiny Bubbles ‘Ukulele Band to hear sweet, quirky and fun music. Audience participation is encouraged.

Chicago Pride Parade

June 30, 2024

The 53rd annual Pride parade takes place through the north side of the city, ending at the intersection of Diversey Parkway and Sheridan Road.
