Christmas in the Commons

New Lenox continues its tradition of Christmas in the Commons with an incredible display of lights that includes a 50-foot-tall lighted Santa Claus, and a full calendar of holiday activities including visits from Santa, horse-drawn wagon rides, synthetic skating rinks, visits from reindeer and more.
Holiday Magic at Brookfield Zoo
Through Dec. 31, 2024 (Select dates)
- Address: 8400 31st Street, Brookfield
- Cost: $29.95/ages 12-64, $20.95/ages 3-11, free/2 and under
Chicagoland’s longest-running holiday light experience features more than two million twinkling LED lights. Walk through a 600-foot-long tunnel featuring colored lights synchronized to music, take a holiday photo of selfie in a giant 20-foot-lit orb or in front of a 41-foot-tall Christmas tree. Kiddos will love spotting larger-than-life illuminated LED animal sculptures.
Parade of Lights
Dec. 3, 2024

- Cost: Free
Kick off the most magical time of the year at the Tinley Park Parade of Lights. This annual event includes festive floats, vehicles, local businesses, community groups and school bands displaying the spirit of the season. A few very special guests from the North Pole will be making an appearance!
Tinley Park Christmas House
Approximately Thanksgiving to New Year’s Day
- Address: 17321 Avon Lane, Tinley Park (parking at Prairie View Middle School)
- Cost: Donations accepted, which benefit the nonprofit Together We Cope, which provides struggling families with financial help, Christmas toys and meals, much more.
For more than 25 years, the Kowalczyk family has decked their own halls for all to see. The winner of ABC’s “The Great Christmas Light Fight,” visitors can expect to see more than 200,000 lights and up to 400 figurines. What’s more, the lights are programmed to sync with music that accompanies the massive display, which takes weeks and nearly 80 people to put together.
