A kaleidoscope of bright butterflies have landed at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum in Lincoln Park!Â
Coinciding with their recent rebranding efforts, the museum launched Flight of Butterflies at the end of April. The sculpture exhibit tells stories of conservation and local art through 30 beautiful butterflies, each decorated with a unique design by a local artist.

- Where: Some of the sculptures are currently on display at Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, 2430 N Cannon Drive, Chicago. These sculptures will migrate to city parks in July 2024 and will be on display through September 2025. Ten sculptures will be added to The Magnificent Mile on May 20, 2024 and will remain there through September 2025.Â

By August 2024, the sculptures will migrate and take up residency along The Magnificent Mile and in Chicago Park District parks and natural areas across the city. - The highlight of the museum is the Judy Istock Butterfly Haven, a gorgeous greenhouse that is home to more than 1,000 butterflies. Stop by at 2 p.m. daily to witness newly-emerged butterflies spread their wings for the very first time!Â
- The museum’s temporary exhibits teach kids about conservation and local species, and help them develop an appreciation for nature. Some of the current exhibits include A Turtle’s Story, where guests can learn about turtle conservation efforts in DuPage County, and Exquisite Miniatures, an exhibit of miniature paintings of animals and nature scenes.Â
