ShadowView Brewing
Don’t let the name fool you at ShadowView Brewing. This place is great for families. (Read about our family visit here.) The new Woodstock brewpub serves the typical family favs – chicken tenders, wings, mozzarella sticks and fries. But the real star is the pizza—a mix of Neapolitan and American. The handmade dough has been perfected by the owner and when cooked in the wood-fired oven for five minutes, it comes out with a little bit of a crispy. They currently serve craft beers on tap from local breweries and will serve their own brewed beer in the near future.
Kids will love: Fried dough bites covered in cinnamon.

Georgio’s Chicago Pizzeria & Pub
The award-winning pizzeria in downtown Crystal Lake gets rave reviews for their deep dish pizza. It rivals those of any other big-named Chicago pizza joints. The downtown Crystal Lake location not only serves a fantastic deep dish, but their thin crust is also something to consider.
Kids will love: The dough nuggets tossed in parmesan garlic butter sauce.

Richmond BratHaus
Located in the Historic District of Richmond, the Brat Haus serves authentic gourmet bratwursts, as well as sandwiches and burgers like the Notorious P.I.G. Don’t miss the Bier battered cheese curds and any of their wursts. Not sure which wurst to choose? During restaurant week, you’ll have a chance to try their sausage sampler.
Kids will love: The huge, no, colossal Bavarian pretzel, larger than their head!

The Double Yolk Café
Located on historic Woodstock Square, the restaurant specializes in hearty breakfasts (hello, skillets!) and lunch items. During restaurant week, give one of their signature skillets a try. Don’t miss out on trying their signature Bloody Mary.
Kids will love: Jumbo pancake with choice of fruit topping

Café 31 North
The McHenry restaurant serves breakfast and lunch with a twist. Try their quinoa eggs Benedict, their stuffed avocado with chicken salad, or their signature French toast.
Kids will love: Mini waffles with sausage or bacon

Julie Ann’s Frozen Custard
You can’t go wrong with anything here at the McHenry County institution. You gotta appreciate the fact that Julie Ann’s partners with local businesses to create fantastic custard creations. Think coffee from local coffee shops or fruits from local farms. Can’t decide what to choose? During restaurant week, you can choose a sampler plate and try any three flavors and three toppings.
Kids will love: Everything! Seriously, you can’t go wrong with anything here.
