Runners, walkers and bikers itching to put the pavement of the Lakefront Trail under their feet can circle June 22 on their calendars. The barriers will be removed and the Lakefront will reopen beginning at 6 a.m., though the beaches and parks east of Lakeshore Drive will remain closed.
The Lakefront Trail will be open 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. In a release, the City said that users of the trail must adhere to a “keep it moving” strategy, not stopping or congregating in groups. To monitor crowd control on the trail, only half of the city’s access points will be open.
In the same release, the City announced that bars and breweries can begin serving to outdoor guests on June 17. Like restaurants that reopened June 3, the same requirements of distanced outdoor seating and health patrolling will be in effect.
